For many, the day before Lent is known as Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday. For others, it’s Pancake Day – a time to toss out the eggs, butter, and fat in the cupboards, flip a pancake or two, and overindulge before abstaining for 6 weeks.
Whether you’re observing the tradition or not, what could be more indulgent than eating breakfast for dinner snuggled up together in your pajamas by 8pm?

According to Dr Terri Orbuch’s study of long-term relationships, over 42% of the partners felt like their relationships were in a rut (or falling into a rut) – that is, the relationship had become routine and monotonous.
Her advice? Lighten up and switch it up. Two of the best things you can do to keep your relationship fun and fresh (and further studies agree) are try new things and introduce the element of surprise by breaking out of your routine.
So after you’re done with having breakfast for dinner, how about dinner for breakfast?
Follow our pancake recipe below to whip up dinner like a pro!
1 ½ cups self-raising flour
3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
Pinch of salt, or more to taste
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 ¼ cups milk
1 medium egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1. Sift the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar into a large bowl. Give them a quick mix and make a well in the centre. Gradually pour the milk in, bit by bit, whisking all the time to give a smooth mixture and removing all of the lumps. Beat in the egg and melted butter and set aside.
2. Put a drizzle of oil into a large frying over a medium-high heat. Spoon the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.
3. Top with whatever you like, maple syrup, bacon, a dollop of cream cheese – up to you!
