Biography

Dr. Wednesday Martin is a Yale-trained social scientist and cultural critic with a background in anthropology, including evolutionary biology and primatology.

Her mission is to use social science to improve people's lives—especially women's sex lives and relationships, whether it's transitioning to an open relationship or being a stepparent. In addition to being a Sex Coach, she is a #1 New York Times bestseller in the non-fiction category (Primates of Park Avenue) and has written four books on female sexuality including The Button, an Amazon Original Story about her search for the clitoris and UNTRUE, a Kirkus starred Best of Non-Fiction selection about female non-monogamy across cultures and species and bias in the science of female sexuality.

She was the sex columnist for Refinery 29 and Elle Italia, and her work on women’s sexual and social strategies as well as those of female non-human primates has appeared everywhere from the New York Times to The Atlantic, Cosmo, The Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy, CNN Opinion and PsychologyToday. She has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, NPR, and more, and lectures widely.

She is currently working on a project, FREEAGENT, about women in their fifties and sexual adventure. Wednesday and her “apartner” Joel have two children and Wednesday is a stepmother of two young women. She lives in Los Angeles and New York City.
